Hello Girls!!!
Welcome to your First Judging Session!!! I know it's a little bit early but I already have all critique and ranking so why not since some of you already asked me about the result
Let's start our business for today
Team Amanda
Diego: Im not a fan of the outfit but your look and the photo is perfect. I love it! very model like
Nicki: I like this a lot, Ashley. It's high-fashion, and shows off your face. Very successful
Yoona: I love your face in this photo. I think it's quite strong but also soft at the same time. My problem is with your pose. I feel that you can sharper your pose.
Karen: Something about the facial expression bothers me, and I can't figure it out for the life of me. I swear. Like... there's nothing wrong with it, but for whatever reason, I feel like I need to run away.
But, that's just me being me, and doesn't actually have anything to do with the picture. I think that the pose is good, if a tad awkward. With the arm the way it is, and the hair being blown back, it's a little bit... off, to me. But it's a very nice shot, overall.
Brody: I think it's a typical Olsen face. So it's fine. The image is over all pretty good. I like the value and the contrast
Nicki: I love this photo, Michelle. I think you connect your emotions really well to the camera, which is something you should be proud of. This is a great opening shot- my only advice would be to know that we like risk-taking at ANY stage of the game. But still, great job!
Karen: Michelle, this is a phenomenal shot. There's emotion here, and all of the elements of the picture just work in a way that's hard to define. It's definitely one of my top picks thus far.
Yoona: I think it's a good photo. The angle of your head looks great. But I think you shouldn't put your hand on your neck cause it's quite distracting. I want to see your neck!!! Neck! Neck! Neck!
Diego: I stalked you guys when Amanda was mentoring you and i read she liked this one. This was honestly my least favorite from the three you posted and i wish i could have said no to pick it but i had no say. It's not bad but i dont like your hair and how the hair and eyebrows are different colors and the outfit is kind of freaky but i like the pose.
Brody: I love the emotion that you are showing and the pose is really good. The black and white creates a subtle effect, not dramatic, which I think works good for this shot.
Yoona: I think this is such a fun photo. I wouldn't called this high fashion but you stick with your country vibe. I think you are really confident with your choice. I love the confidence but be careful next time and take time to evaluate the other choice too
Diego: I like this photo, i get the sweet and innocent vibe from it. It doesnt wow me but i still think it's really beautiful. Keep it up girl!
Nicki: Hey Whit! If there's a flaw with this photo, I would say it's the hair. I think it's a bit too messy for the look you're going for. I do like, however, that this photo is true to you as a person. You look great with the guitar. Keep it up!
Karen: This is a really nice photo. I like the pose, and the inclusion of the guitar. The hair is a bit messy, but it definitely works with the feel of the rest of the photo. It's kind of laid back and relaxed, but it's still a modelling shot. That's a seriously difficult thing to pull off, but you've done a great job here.
Brody: Uhm, this is a horrible photo. I don't see any emotion or any point to it. It's really boring to look at. Sorry, it just doesn't do anything for me.
Team Diego
Amanda: You look really great in this photo, however, it doesn't really stick out to me in any way - when you don't have color, you want something memorable about it. I love your outfit and the pose, and your face shows a genuinity we don't often see. Despite that, there's not as much going on as there could be. I really like it, but it could be a lot more memorable. You should be safe regardless this week.
Yoona: The eyebrows were kinda weird but in a unique ways. I mean you are definitely one of the commercial girls here and it's so hard to translate from being a very commercial to a high fashion model but I saw your effort here. I wish the face expression would be more stronger.
Karen: The eyebrows are a little off-putting, and I don't know how I feel about the hair, but your eyes here are absolutely fantastic!
I also feel like this pose shows more boredom than anything else, but everything else seems to come together nicely. Well done!
Brody: I love the expression in your eyes. It's beautiful. I wish that there was a little more contrast to the shot, but overall its really good.
Nicki: Kelly, honey, this photo is in color. I fear that you may have just shot yourself in the foot.
Yoona: I watch your samples and honestly I'm not too confident with every photos. For this photo, I think the styling is great but my concern is on your pose. For the black & white thing, I think your interpretation is quite unique. I hope you'll make it through this week cause I really want to see a black model make it to the International Destination at least. I wish you would go bolder and take a risk with more unique and artistic photo like this
Amanda: This isn't in black and white, but it's not in color either. It's still vintage-looking, an old-style photo, but it isn't in black and white and that alone loses you plenty of points. Your pose is awkward and although I like your hair, it still bugs me that the photo has some coloration to it. Because of that alone, you should be very concerned. Sorry.
Karen: Interesting. Kelly, I'm not gonna harp on the black/white issue, but I would definitely say that if you're going to do artistic interpretations of linear categories, it's definitely a good idea to include an explanation with the photo. The pose is interesting, and I really like your hair here. Your outfit is strong, and it's a solid effort. Well done!
Brody: I would really like this if it was in black and white. Other than that though the hair, outfit, lighting is all good.
Naomi, I appreciate that you took a risk, but I'm not sure how much it paid off. When I think of black-and-white photos, I think of vintage beauty. I'm not really sure you nailed the theme here.
Yoona: I think this is quite artistic. I can feel the connection and your eyes were strong. The styling was quite classic for me but I think it's suitable for this week theme. I love the fact that you took the risk and it really worked for me
Amanda: Like Nicki, I don't know if I like this. I like that you're taking a risk but something about this appears... creepy. It is suitable for this week's theme, but your facial expression is kind of unnerving and I don't know if I like that. However, it's not horrible or anything, and at this early stage of the competition, you should be fine.
Karen: To be honest, my initial impression here was that you were suffering from some kind of raging headache. That being said, I love your makeup, and you've definitely given us a photo with a lot of elements to it, which nicely makes up for the lack of color. So there are a lot of great things, but also some strong negatives, so it kind of averages out to "slightly awesome" as far as I'm concerned...
Brody: I love this image. It's really good. I love the shadows on your face that give almost a creepy tone. I think your risk was a good risk!
Team Karen
Nicki: Jessica, I think you did a great job here. The logo at the bottom should be removed, but that's not a huge issue. Also, it's a tad blurry in the top-left corner, but again, great job.
Yoona: Hey girl!!! Don't think just because we're in the same group together, you'll get a free pass.. I'm not a big fan of the styling. But overall I think this is a great photo. I think the pose is very natural and your face looks good.
Amanda: Like Nicki said, the logo is a little distracting but not hugely so. You've got a great facial expression that steals the show, and your arm is a bit blurry so it appears like it's a background. I love the pose and this is fierce. Good job!
Diego: I like it a lot very pretty but the one flaw i'd say is your arm/hand it's kind of disturbing.
Yeah, I'm not a fan. The arm and the facial expression are both really awkward. Definitely not enough; you need to step it up
Amanda: I'm not going to lie. I really, really hate this. I saw it the first time and you look like a sadistic nurse from a horror movie. Not a model in any form. That logo in the corner also catches my eye as a big issue.
It... is a risk, but I honestly can't see why you picked this one to be "risky" with. This photo is nothing but freaky, and I can't rank you very high this week.
Diego: This is really creepy to me. I was hoping you would do a lot better i mean your Kristen Stewart. I'm not gonna say it's the worst but it's not the best.
Yoona: This is an art!!! I don't know why they hate this... I feel there is a story behind this photo. I love that you took risk. Your eyes are very strong. And the styling was so great. I feel the connection to this photo. I just totally love this
Brody: I LOVE this. It is art likeYoona said. When I look at this compared to the other shots, they are all boring. Good Work!! I like risk takers
Diego: I really like this. It's stunning. The only think i'll say i dont like is the quality seems kind of stretched. Your face is prob my favorite part in this photo.
Yoona: I think this is very very good. I'm really impressed considering your reputation last cycle. The dress is really gorgeous and you really work it. From the pose and styling, this is very stunning for me.
Amanda: For some reason, I don't find myself in love with this photo. The dress looks like you're wearing a hedge maze and that seems to clash with the wet hair. This does show off your body and your face looks great. The quality is a bit off, but you definitely seem like you're in a better position than last time.
Brody: Like Amanda, I'm not a big fan of the dress. Other than though I like the expression on your face and the emotion that you are showing. I'm not crazy about the contrast, but it's good enough to get you through to the next round.
Team Brody
Yoona: I can see the fun in the photo. The styling is very good. I wish we can see more face from you. The pose could be better I think. As for the setting/background, it was quite good.
Diego: This photo looks like so much fun. The only problem i have is your face but i totally understand that your face should be like that because your fun.
Amanda: I REALLY like this. Its a sexy photo, it's sort of vintage, and you clearly seem to be having fun. I like the setting and the black and white definitely works here. I feel like I've walked in to a classic 50s movie with a little bit of a modern twist. Your outfit and pose are great, and overall I really enjoy this photo. Great work!
Karen: Interesting.
I'm not really a huge fan of models looking like guys, but that's personal preference more than anything. It's a good pose, very lighthearted, and it's pretty cute. Wish we could see more of your face, but there's more than enough going on in the picture to compensate for it. Great work!
Nicki: I like the dress the most out of the entire photo. I'm not crazy about the pose because we don't get to see a whole lot of your face, but all in all, good job!
Karen: I like the hair, and the pose definitely makes the shot interesting, which gets you definite bonus points because with a black and white shot you really need to have some kind of aspect that compensates for the lack of color. The pose is phenomenal, and the outfit and hair work together well, but I feel like we've completely lost your face, to the point where it almost doesn't even look like you're you, and that's a tragedy.
Yoona: Lindsay, I saw your samples and you were like having so much good and high fashion photos than anybody else but the one that you chose wasn't my favorite. It just doesn't feel you at all. The dress is amazing. I think you can do hundred times better than this. Your face is your strongest feature and you should emphasis on it more
Amanda: I want to like this, but the pose is kind of weird. It doesn't strike me as establishing an identity, especially since your face isn't even a factor in here. I do love the outfit and how you have your hair, but I don't think this is the strongest photo you could have picked.
Diego: I'm pretty sure i commented on this but i guess i didnt. I love the pose, i like the outfit but i'm not a fan of your face i wish i could see it. But this is a good shot.
Diego: Hm... to me this photo is just plain. It kind of looks like one eye is looking in a different direction where the other is pointed forward. It's a great picture though, it just isnt doing much for me.
Yoona: I think you look very sweet and innocent here. It's very unique and beautiful. I hope you would inject more high fashion element in it. However I still think this is good for me
Amanda: I like the innocence, but you're a bit zoomed in. We really only get to see your head here, not your surroundings. There's nothing to make up for the lack of color, and that is a pretty big issue. However, you look amazing, so although you won't be getting first callout, you shouldn't really worry.
Karen: I'll agree that this is kind of a generic shot. It's definitely attractive, and there's nothing really wrong with it, but in a black and white shot you really need to do something special to compensate for the lack of color, and this photo doesn't really do that.
